On May 12 is the anniversary day of the birth of Florence Nightingale. Born in 1820 in the United Kingdom, she was a nurse when she contracted a serious form of the Chronic Syndrome of Tiredness and Fibromyalgia when she was about 40 years old. She then spent almost the last fifty years of her life stucked in her bed. In spite of her disease, Florence Nightingale is at the origin of the Foundation of the International Red Cross, she also founded the first school of nurses. She represents a strong symbol of resistance and fight against the disease. This is why RESCIND USA chose in 1990 this symbol date of May 12 in order to sensitize the opinion on the immunological and neurological diseases chronic: The patients of Fibromyalgie and CFS join this manifestation who became International.
Le 12 mai est le jour anniversaire de la naissance de Florence Nightingale. Née en 1820 en Grande Bretagne, elle exerçait le métier d'infirmières lorsqu'elle a contracté une forme grave du Syndrome de Fatigue Chronique et de Fibromyalgie vers l'âge de 40 ans. Elle a ensuite passé quasiment les cinquante dernières années de sa vie clouée au lit. Malgré sa maladie, Florence Nightingale est à l'origine de la Fondation de la Croix Rouge Internationale et elle a également fondé la première école d'infirmières. Elle représente un symbole fort de résistance et de lutte contre la maladie.
C'est pourquoi RESCIND USA a choisi cette date symbole du 12 mai en 1990 afin de sensibiliser l'opinion sur les maladies immunologiques et neurologiques chroniques: Les malades de Fibromyalgie et SFC s'associent à cette manifestation devenue Internationale.
