The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) is the professional, educational and trade union body representing and supporting physiotherapists across the UK.

CSP currently has over 51,000 members including students, assistants and full practicing physiotherapists working in a range of settings including NHS, independent and private sector, voluntary sector and in the community.

Frontline magazine is an informative, fortnightly print publication and daily online news magazine, offering high-quality news, features and analysis from the world of physiotherapy and healthcare.

Frontline is one of the primary communication channels with CSP’s 51,000 members. The award-winning magazine is also read by other healthcare professionals and policy makers, raising the profile and image of the profession.

We are looking for a talented and experienced journalist to support the Managing Editor/Head of Member Communications in their role and to help provide day-to-day leadership for the editorial team in the production of the magazine.

Responsibilities:

You will help to shape and plan content relevant to CSP members, reflecting issues of concern within the society as well as wider health issues.

You will be responsible for ensuring the print magazine contains a mix of features in each issue and will write some news stories for both print and online.

You will also write briefs for externally commissioned work, liaise with freelance writers, oversee features work by in-house staff and discuss illustration concepts with the Editor and Designer.

Requirements:

You will have a formal qualification in journalism, and experience of managing a team of journalists.

Creativity, combined with impeccable writing, editing and proofing skills, is essential.

You’ll be working in a cross-media environment.

An understanding of the interface between print and the web, and of using e-bulletins and social media platforms such as Twitter to get a message across, will be key.

Experience of working in a membership organisation, combined with a commercial awareness, would be helpful.

An interest in healthcare issues would be a distinct advantage.

You may occasionally be required to travel and work evenings and weekends.
